YJ idle at 3000 RPM
« on: October 25, 2008, 06:37:02 PM »
Today I replaced the exhaust manifold on my son's YJ and after completion, the jeep idles at 3 K RPM's.  Any suggestions?
Sprayed around exhaust manifold and idle went down so the leak is around new gasket.  When I put on the new manifold I noticed that the old cracked manifold did NOT have a gasket, I have never seen that.  I am having trouble tighening the bolts and will take to my mechanic and let him tork them down.  Thank you for responding.

You might have a massive vacuum leak. Check everything to see if somethng was left loose.

Hope this helps

Replaced gasket again and now all is well.  Many thanks to all!
