You can't have a fire on the south side of the lake. Unless we want to sit around the camp stove BS'ing in the cold I think tanglewood will be the place to go.  Good thing I checked before I made the reservations...... that would suck!

Guess we will have to run John Bull after all, huh? Tanglewood is right near the trail head.

$85 a night is bank! protest

We need a fire! violent5

So is it arrive Friday and leave Sunday? (2 nights @$85)
That's not too bad between 4 or 5 (or more) groups.

I wonder if Mike T. would want to go. I haven't heard from him in forever.

I would like to try John Bull! I'll check with my co-worker buddy and my Brother in law who both have XJ's. happy2

Brandon is in too.  That makes 5 right now. It's spendy but I see no other option really. We can't get enough sites at Holcomb, it's just always too full. With the fire damage it really limits the area too.  I figure we'l, warm up on Gold Mountain trail and head to john Bull if our shorts can handle it.... Expect body damage!

There is the matter of an adverture pass too. You don't need one parked in camp but you do it you drive around and park anywhere else.

OK, Tanglewood is booked! $180 for the two nights (7/10-7/11) but I think it's the best choice for this group. I'll be going up early Friday but you can get there when you want.

I'll get more info and a map up here soon

Happy Memorial Day, almost. Go burn some meat on the grill or something.....

Here are the diections to the campsite

Take I-10 (Hwy 330) to Running Springs, CA, (State Hwy 18) to Big Bear Lake
Dam (State Hwy 38), for 8 miles. Turn left on Van Dusen Canyon Road (3N09)
go for 4 miles. Turn right on 3N16 travel for approximately 2 miles. Take
a right on 3N79 and follow for a short distance to campsite.

3N69 is Gold Mountain Road, DO NOT take that! It's a solid 3/mild 4. Jacoby Canyon is kinda steep and rutted, a mild 2 at best but not good for easy access. Stick to Van Dusen Road.

The map is attached to this post. It's in PDF so you will need Adobe Reader to open it. Click the link below to open that file

I am a little confused. Are we splitting the 180 between all of us?

I think Bill already paid the full $180, and that covers the entire group (30-40 people). So no additional reservations have to be made. I assumed it would be split between all attendees. If that's the case, it's only $36 as it stands now:

You guys bringing your wives, or is this a dudes only trip?
Don/Melanie
Shaun/Dana
Bill/Pattie
Brandon/GF
John/Magazine

If it's cool with the group, there are two or three jeeps from work interested in going to Big Bear and I can ask my Brother in Law if he's interested. Anybody that comes with me will chip in too, and they are cool peeps.

John

OK, so who's ready for some fun? Two weeks to go. It has been a crazy past two weeks for me but I actually have some free time to get my truck all ready now. I knocked off about 10 little things I have been meaning to get done yesterday and today I'll tackle a few bigger jobs. I need some dirt and a few pine trees around me and soon!

My Boss took today and Monday off, so I won't be getting time off until next week if I'm lucky. I'll have to pretty much rely on weekends.

I assume that I need to get the exhaust done in order to smog my RC. Bill, I'll call you later today to talk,

Amazing! I tried to get warranty on the AC/Delco battery that died forever ago in my Silverado. Fortunately, I have a spare. For that is all that I've really had since I owned the truck. I've gone through a few. They've raised the prices about double what I paid in the first place. And they had the 6 year batteries on the receipt instead of the 7 year batteries I bought. Who knows, but the point is that I'll end up paying more for a new battery through GM after the warranty, then I would for a better battery at Autozone. I just wasted gas driving over to the dealer to find this out. I'm better off to buy aftermarket, so I guess that's a good thing.

I don't have a Chevrolet Silverado post to whine in, so I came here instead! I'll be too busy worlking on Mopars this weekend to worry about a stupid bowtie! Ford is now my #2 favorite American Auto Maker! Not just because of the batteries! Tongue

This sucks but.... I can't go. I screwed my knee up really bad and I can't even put weight on it right now. My truck is still in pieces and John's is not finished either. This sucks! I should just listen to our greatest mind of this generation, Homer Simpson. "I've failed at everything I've ever tried boy. The moral is, Don't try!"

Good thing is, I was able to get back 30% of the reservation money. That will help pay the doctor bills!  icon_scratch

Sorry for this. I was really looking forward to it. Maybe just a BBQ or something to catch up and do some bench wheelin.

This works for me too. I have a night job right now and Earl just got the keys to his new house. So neither of us would be able to make it any way.

We should do this in a couple of weeks, after Earl gets settled.

Sucks dude, sorry to hear it.  You should get some new knees because those ones you've got are bunk.

It was going to be a hard thing for me to make anyway since we're moving this Saturday.  I know it's a couple of weeks out but there will be lots of honey doo's after we move in.  I would ask if you want to come help me move, but I don't have a need for wheelchair help!   thefinger

Have fun with the move and with work you two. We'll get together soon, right?
