Hmmmmm  No posts yet in the street trucks?

Figured a couple of people around here would be happy to hear that I bought myself a Dodge.  It isn't 4wd though so it seems that the street trucks forum may be a better place for it?

Wadda ya think?

Teaser shot.  It got dark before I could take some better pictures.

Who's driving it... the invisbile man? Grin

I love the black and chrome. Is it a long bed or short bed? What motor? Sweet truck Mr. Kann.

I guess I could put my '65 Chevy in this for forum if the rats don't eat all of the interior and wiring first!

Its a 71 Dodge Sweptline shortbed.  It has a 67 grill in it though, to make it look older.  318 2v with a 727 that isn't too fond of shifting!  Luckily, it came with a rebuilt 727 and torque converter that I just need to install.

Some pics....

Under the hood and the chassis needs some work.

PO lowered it by removing almost all of the leaf springs.  The front axle was hitting the oil pan so they raised the engine by putting a stack of flat washers as a spacer in the engine mounts!   Roll Eyes

Springs are a little tweaked now too.   Undecided

This is where I need some help from my old Dodge buddies.  It seems through some research that the sweptline guys are using 72-93 Dodge 4x4 STOCK front springs in these as they have very little arch and are thicker/stronger than the stock springs.

So, any of you local guys have any stock fronts still hanging around?

I drive a Dodge, My wife drives... me crazy!

« Reply #4 on: March 23, 2010, 09:43:20 AM »

She's a beauty!  icon_bounce I can't believe how stock it looks. An old dodge that hasn't been completely butchered, how rare is that?

Sorry but I have done a lot of cleaning over the past year or so and stock front springs didn't seem to be worth saving at the time. Bummer, I must have had at least 2 or 3 sets too.

Anyone else?

Mine got tossed. I will check with Val (the guy I bought my axles from). I do have some extra washers if you need!

I like it. Very cool truck.

That's alright, I threw mine out also so I can't blame you guys.  I know that Bill is a packrat though so I figured it was worth asking.  I'll go hit up the junkyard when I get some time.

I'm calling Val tomorrow, so I'll let you know if he's got any springs. He's somewhere around VV area. You'll definitely need some decent springs if that's your tow rig. Are you going to flatbed it? Grin Also, nice looking house... Looks like a good size yard. Congratulations sir!

Sorry dude. Val is having some issues with his knee. I'm not sure if you still need springs or not, but I will post up if I come across anything.

Earl,

Do you still need springs. I will meet with Val in a few weeks. I'll follow up on it if you still need them. Thanks,

You probably do a lot better than I would. I figure I can't lose money on anything, if I never sell! Grin
