Hi guys im new to this forum
my jeep grand Cherokee limited 4.0 2WD when im driving on the freeway i cant keep the car striate its wonders left and right its driving this jeep after downing bottle of patron..all ball joints are good, tires are new air pressure is at 34, i put set of new shocks o.e . on the freeway when a turn is coming up or just changing lanes when i let go of the steering wheel it doesn't fix back or center back, I have to turn it back to center it seems like its getting stuck?? can someone please help me!

The steering box will cause the not returning to center part. That can also cause it to wander. The way to check is have someone wiggle to steering wheel while you look at the box. It's below the air filter box. If there is a lot of play in the input or output shafts replace or rebuild the box.

They are not cheap! It's also a PITA to remove the box from the frame. If you are not an ace mechanic find one and have him change it out. The new steering box (also called the 'power steering gear') will need to be adjusted too. Not a bad idea to have a pro do that too.

What timing! Bill and I were just talking today about the steering box on his Wife's ZJ!

Which State do you live in George? The junk yards that specialize in Jeep aren't very close to us. You might save a few bucks if you can source a replacement yourself.
