I hope you like these pics, it's a sweet truck. I hope to buy it when my employer decides to sell. It's state owned and might get 1,500 miles/year.

I love vintage Dodge!

I had to laugh at the fuel pump magic marker label! ;D

My Grandpa used to purchase state owned vehicles or University owned vehicles all of the time. He felt the University vehicles were so well maintained, that you couldn't go wrong. I don't think he ever bought one that he regretted. Good luck, I hope you get to buy it soon! You would think 30+ years would qualify a vehicle for retirement!

I'm trying to determine the front axle for info and ability to use lock out hubs w/o having to use the smaller bearing size. If anyone can give me any information about this truck I would appreciate it greatly. I'm not familar with the older dodges and have done alot of searching on the net.

Manufactured: 5/1979
Chassis cab 10,000 gvw

I see alot of trucks in the same year w/ round headlight then others w/ dual square. What's up with that?

Thanks.

I saw this post this morning, but also wanted to defer to Bill. I thought the double rectangle headlights were in '80 or '81. It makes sense that they would make it on the late '79's. Bill will definitely know. He's got fenders and doors from all Dodge Era's! That is a Dana 60.

Gees, nice to feel needed....

You can just take the drive flanges off and bolt on hubs on the full time D60's. Just count the splines on the axle shafts before ordering. It may have 30 spline outers.

Dodge had round and quad rectangular headlights in 1979 and 1980. It was an "upgrade" with the rounds being the base model. It's rare to see a work truck with the quad setup but it must have been the one they had on the lot and they took it. 1981 was the release of the "new" truck is single square lights. They dropped the lights about 1/2" in 1985 and then changed it up again in 1991 a bit.

Anything else?

Give me a hard one!   :laughing7:

Good job on the headlight options there Bill!
I always like the look of the quad lights.
They supposedly didn't throw the light as efficiently as rounds.
They sure looked better though.

Nice clean looking truck there copenhagenjunkie!
