4 speed trans I.D.
« on: November 25, 2011, 06:16:08 PM »
Building a 1977 d150 stepside 2wd. It's a factory 318 4spd that is optioned out with alot of parts normally found on LRE or warlock. What is this transmission? It's a true top loader style truck 4spd, but has a synchro'd first gear that is not granny. NP???

If it's stock then it's most likely the NP435 or a NP445D. If it has a single PTO port it's a 435. Dual makes it a 445D.

The 445D did not have a granny gear but 435's did.

445D ratios are 4.56, 2.28, 1.31 1.00 and reverse is 4.07

435 ratios are 6.68, 3.34, 1.66, 1.00 and reverse is 8.26

Hope this helps

Thanks Bill! It must be the 445D. data plate on side has model as 4530, and ratio as 4.56. It has the dual pto port. top plate is aluminum.
