The only thing I can think of is that "LD" stands for Light Duty and the "HD" stands for, you guessed it, Heavy Duty. As for the "C"  Huh
Im still looking though.

I know here in Cali we have Light Duty Cycle and Heavy Duty Cycle engines. Maybe that's it since it's associated with the engine?

I still like little duece coupe though

yup i think its heavy or light duty cycle.  the HDC typically requires more frequent maintenance like tranny service ect.  In the 2nd gen trucks the 5.9 liter was either an LDC or HDC depending on it chassis of service.  If its a 1500 its LDC if its a 2500 or 3500 its HDC.  In the HDC case it had 2 cats and an air pump I think thats the only difference.
