I intended to work on my R/C today, but I worked on everything but. At least I got my '65 Chevy running. I did work a little on my R/C, but it was just to get it started and the battery charged back up. I'm having a hell of a time getting situated. I bought a POS trailer and it will barely fit in my garage... (I think)... I 'm sure it will, but I have the weapons carrier in there on jack stands without any tires. The Chevy was shoved in there, but would not start etc.... Plus I had 10 sheets of 3/4" plywood and 30 2x4's piled in between. I got all of the wood stacked up nicely along the side wall. I will have to get the weapons carrier moved over to the left about a foot or two. Huh The next problem is figuring out where to stick my pool table which is also in the garage. No suggestions on where to stick it from the Toyota Boys please Tongue It sucks because I'm a little bit fat and it's been hard work. At this rate, I'll be Jed's size by mid August.  Anyhow, my trailer won't work right now for my R/C, so hopefully I can get that figured out soon. It's to damn hot... I hope everybody's weekend goes well. Happy 4th of July.

O.K. I am going to make a push to get my truck together for this trip. First, straighten the windsheild frame, Bill do still have that frame? Second, rollcage. May have to shop around for this. What kind of price should I be paying? What material?

It would be great to see you (and Pam too!) but jeesh, a rollcage?  One tremendous roll and now the guy wants a roll cage. Roll Eyes

Just kidding Mike.  It is on my list of things to do also, just don't think it will be done by this trip.  FYI, I have a stock rollbar (3-piece) out of John's 77  Tongue.  You can have it for what it is worth, which is NOTHING.

Yes I still have the windsheild frame. PLEASE take it off my hands before I do something stupid with it, like make an '83 RC a full convertable or something.

The cage should be out of .120" wall DOM tube. For a soft top truck 2" is probably best but you could get away with 1 3/4" tube. The smaller tube has tighter bends for more clearance in the truck. The big trick is the dash on these trucks. You have to tear it out or at least modify the hell out of it for the front tubes to clear and not be in the way. Price? That depends on how crazy you go. If you start with the Jegs cage and add to it it can be cheap. Not very custom and you'll have to live with a few things you might not like but it's a start. DOM tube is pricey. $4 a foot at least if you buy in bulk. You'll have every bit of 60' in it (maybe more) if you do the full family cage. Labor varies but a good fab guy will charge $40-$50 an hour and figure 10-20 hours depending on design complexity. It adds up fast but a good cage is worth every penny. If it weren't for my knee I'd say I'd do it for cheap but.... Not sure when/if I could get it done. Ask Dave about that....

Let me know when you want the windsheild frame.

Thanks for the offer but the three piece in the truck now is what already saved my ass. I have seen these factory rollbars go for close to a hundred though.

The Toyota vs Dodge theme may have just taken a turn for the imports.  Might have one to three more 4runners to join us for a run.  Afro

Glad to hear it. We'll have to get out on the trail a bit more often. What have you heard about the fires?

Heard that the fire was "contained" today.  It was east of Big Bear and the campgound/trails are mostly north and northwest of Big Bear.  Shouldn't be an issue.

Never leave yourself "open" for a come back like that John!  Shocked

Is that a case of beer for everyone who has to pull me out? That's going to be a lot of beer! I'll just bring a 100 qt cooler full of beer with a sign saying "That's right, I suck. Drink up", how's that sound?  Cry

Hey Bill,

Don't worry about the beer... Maybe one of those Toyota Boys will just roll over on it's side. That counts as a W for Dodge even though Jed and Earl can push it back upright all by themselves...

Hey Earl,

What's the word with your 2 - 3 Toyota buddies... I'll check with my Jeep buddy tomorrow since he's already gone home.
