Earl,

What condition is that YJ in? I've seen some real heaps go for more than that. It's hard to say with so little info... Maybe the 4 cyl is better for a new driver, even though we aren't exactly talking about the world's safest vehicle!

I'll show you later when I can get it out back out of the garage. It's buried tight now because I am rearranging and cleaning. The only thing I will say is it's a MOPAR!!!  Afro

I'll add that it is a make that is no longer sold new.  Evil

What more info is there?  I thought 4cy 5sp YJ was enough description? Tongue  I'm just guessing on late 80's.  The interior is fair, been sitting outside for a little while with no top.  He claims to have a complete soft top for it.  One 6-inch scratch/dent on drivers half door, otherwise the body is good.  I just wonder if it has the dreaded Pugeot trans or some other crap.  Not that I'd ever do much to it.  I have a camera phone pic of it that I can get up here in just a minute.

Jed,
If I can find a clean 1st gen Toy P/U like the one you got from Wayne I'd be all over it.  Only two I've seen lately one had a blown engine for 1500obo and the other was rusty for 1300. Cry

Buy that Jeep! I had thoughts of major carnage in my head for that price. The monkey cage roll bar and 3rd tail light means it's probably a mid 90's model. Hey, what about buying that Toyota parked in front of it? Grin All of a sudden, I miss my ol' YJ! Tongue

Good tip thanks.  A little googling says that first year for third brake light is 94.  I guessed really high milage and no options and the KBB still came up as $3500-$4100  Guess I'll go back and take a little closer look.

Heck, he might even sell it for less since it's her first Jeep... Grin

That's a huge bonus if he has the top. Those suckers are expensive.

On a side note... how many Jeep Wranglers do you see with a full size matching spare? Usually only the stock ones, except when the ding dong removes it for aesthetics! Grin

Hey, I had mine in 4 low the other day. It was to drive over a couch I was getting rid of but it still counts! Tongue That couch is DEAD!

As long as it's not an 87, just don't buy an 87. The 88-89 has a non c-clip D35 in the back but most had a 207 T case. The 89 (with a 231) was the best year other than the mid 90's. 4 cylinders have NO POWER! That can be a good thing. They don't go over 65 MPH, ever. They can't accelerate and they don't go up hills with more than 2 people in it. PERFECT!

BC

PS, I just saw the post with more details. That wasn't up there when I posted this message before. Stupid moron who runs this site! Piece of crap board!  Roll Eyes

That is a 92 and up (can tell by the rollcage). It will have the AX5 trans and 120HP of pure muscle under the hood. It will beat a 4 runner but not by much! 4:10 gears were stock in that thing. I'd say it's a good deal if a compression check seems good and it will pass smog easily. The AX5 can be a POS but there are things that can be done. The BA10 Peugot is useless (ask me how I know Cry) and was pretty much only found on 6 4.2L 6cyl models from 87-89. There was a BA5 behind 87-88 4cyl's but I hear that is REALLY rare. Most are long dead by now.

It needs the engine replaced (that was included in the price, it just isn't done yet), I don't have that much money yet, and I'm holding out for a Toyota.  Wink

I was just trying to get the Thread Topic back up to the top! I wish I cold bold it too Evil

I'm ok with a girl getting a VW Beetle, but that's too bad she wrecked it. Is she ok? Is the VW totalled? Maybe now's a good time for her to consider buying a grey Toyota 4Runner that's for sale!

Just the rear bumper cover.  It's not too bad.
